Students may choose to improve a previous project, expand upon a Minor Challenge or choose a completely new topic of interest.<\/p>\n<h2>2022 Major Challenge Prompt<\/h2>\n<p>Participants have the choice of selecting this prompt or a topic of their own choosing for the Major Challenge. We hope the prompt may serve as some inspiration for your project.<\/p>\n<p>The Science Challenge Team and KPMG are excited to announce our Major Challenge prompt for this year:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2294 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/sciencechallenge.org.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/MnCComp-Launch.png\" alt=\"Major Challenge prompt: &quot;How can humans work to better co-inhabit Earth with our natural environment?\" width=\"682\" height=\"682\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2>Some points students may wish to consider:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" aria-level=\"1\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">One of the biggest human impacts on the natural environment is in the form of climate change &#8211; How can we work to reduce our negative impact on the environment and\u00a0minimise the effects of climate change?<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" aria-level=\"1\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">With an increasing number of human communities come\u00a0more ways of exploiting the environment, for example, clearing of land for buildings and transportation, deforestation, and more. This leads to a bigger sustainability problem &#8211; Is there a limit to how many\u00a0resources the planet can provide for us? And if so, what will we do when we reach this limit?<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" aria-level=\"1\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">How can we live in harmony with Earth? This can\u00a0include the\u00a0physical and chemical properties of the planet, such as\u00a0the atmosphere, tidal movements and mineral resources; or biological life\u00a0including\u00a0animal species and our diverse ecosystems.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" aria-level=\"1\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">How can we use technology to restore\u00a0Earth? Some advanced real-life examples are technologies that help detect wildfires in remote areas; emerging technologies that reuse and recycle plastics; renewable energy sources; and so much more.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" aria-level=\"1\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">How can we use technology to preserve and support our\u00a0biodiversity?
